Las Viandas

Las Viandas was a short film with a good international run. It was selected in 150 festivals and awarded in ten countries. However, it was always a feature film project. Between black comedy and thriller, one of the challenges of the film is to combine humor, suspense and terror. Another, a subtle evolution where what seemed like paradise gradually transforms into hell. The feature film project has been one of the 19 selected, among more than 450 from Spain and Latin America, for the Ibermedia 2014 Film Project Development Course. Las Viandas has been the project chosen by Ibermedia to participate in the co-production workshop of Havana (December 2014). It has been selected for the co-production market in Guadalajara, Mexico (March 2015) and for the Marché du Film de Cannes (May 2015).

Sinopsis

Black comedy - thriller.

A disoriented driver enters a shelter lost in the mountains. It turns out to be a luxurious restaurant run by the prestigious chef Papadopoulos. When he tries to pay for his dinner and continue his journey, he discovers that the impeccable service and elegant clientele are hiding something, and that the menu has only just begun. They serve him plates and more plates, and when he pretends that it is too much food, the service begins to feel offended. Forced to continue eating, the traveler tries to flee, but the snow has buried the road...

Cuarteto

Short film made in co-production with France, “QUADRILÁTERO” functioned as a presentation and rehearsal for what would later become a feature film. Starring Mathieu Amalric, Jordi Dauder and Silvia Marsó, the short film won numerous international awards. Now, with the title “QUARTET” (which we consider more suited to the musical tone of the story), we decided to undertake, now matured, the film as we had conceived it in the beginning: the idea of ​​unhappy, unrequited love, converted into a musical structure in the form of a “rondo”. The prominence of each character occurs throughout the four seasons of the year, as if they were solo instruments accompanied by counterpoints. We could define this film as a kind of musical without songs. The musical aspect of the film is fundamental, since all its characters are related to music.

Sinopsis

Black comedy - thriller.

Four unnamed characters experience a series of romantic disagreements over the course of a year that will prove crucial in their lives. Summer, autumn, winter and spring. Each season of the year corresponds to the point of view of one of them. They are all related in one way or another to the world of classical music, but that is not the only thing that unites them: the four of them love without being loved, either because they are incapable of confessing their feelings, or because it is an impossible love. At the end of that year, some of them will be confronted with the urgent need to make decisions...
